The Firebird was started in 1977 with a vision of providing self-sufficient home heating. The founders began with selling a single brand of wood stove out of their garage. A few years later, The Firebird began selling a small selection of drip irrigation components.
Under current ownership since 1988, The Firebird has grown into the leading stove, fireplace, and irrigation supplier in Santa Fe & northern New Mexico.

Our rescue cat, Sluggo, has beautiful tuxedo markings. He loves hanging out in the showroom and watching activities in the store. Sluggo is always happy interacting with people and loves being petted.
President and co-owner of the Firebird. Gene has a BBA from the University of Texas, Austin, and moved to Santa Fe in 1974. He loves camping and Jeeping throughout New Mexico and Southern Colorado. He believes that good business and environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive and enjoys being actively involved in the Santa Fe community.
He serves on the Board of the Rocky Mountain chapter of the Hearth, Patio, Barbecue Association. He also is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the national Hearth, Patio, Barbecue Association.
Vice-president & co-owner of The Firebird. Raised in South Portland, Maine, her family also lived in New Hampshire. She is a former case manager at Christus St. Vincent Hospital, holding a BSN from Northeastern University. Mary voices many of The Firebird’s radio commercials.
She serves on numerous committees with the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association.
Sherri has a fine arts degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She is an avid yogi of Bikram Yoga, travels, and is a dance choreographer. Sherri is a fundraiser for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Sherri has over twenty years of experience assisting an array of business with office management and accounting.
Kelley escaped from North Dakota at a young age. He has an economics degree from Univ. of Colorado, Boulder. He has a NM contractors license, and is one of the few in New Mexico to hold multiple certifications from the national Irrigation Association.
Mark has a fine arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hiking, skiing, ice climbing, and cycling in New Mexico and Arizona. He also is an amateur astronomer.
Kent has a degree in photography, and for 12 years managed a camera and video store in Highland Park, Illinois. He has also sold camping & mountaineering supplies. He enjoys travelling, skiing, and golf.
Jorge grew up in Santa Fe. He comes from a construction family, and has been involved in the construction industry most of his adult life. He holds an NM State Contractors License (GB-98).
Born & raised in Bristol, Tennessee, he spent many years in Houston as a corporate photographer & professional musician. In Santa Fe David is also active in the Christian ministry.
A native Santa Fean, Phil is retired from a long career with the gas company, where he served as a Senior Service Tech, Foreman, and Operations Supervisor. He also operates a home inspection service. He enjoys hunting & fishing in his spare time.
